Mindfulness and Meditation (M&M)

The M&M club was founded in spring 2013 by then-sophomores Gabriel Hanas and Rebecca Neighbor. After taking an FYS 129 class on meditation at UT, the two wanted to continue their practices and share them with others. Club meeting days and locations are currently every Monday and Friday at 4:45 PM in room 201 of the Student Wellness Center next to Fraternity row and right accross from The Rock. Enter in the front, up the stairs to the right then the hallway to the left and the first meeting room on the left after you pass the office. Straight accross from the restrooms.

Leadership Team Bios

 President: Brynn Yeager

I am a Senior, studying Community Based Mindfulness and Meditation with the College Scholars Program. I am also a member of the American Meditation Society. I have been meditating all my life. It has improved my life in infinite ways and am so grateful for this club to give me a group of people to talk about these ideas with.

Vice President: Natalie Guffey

Hello! I am currently a sophomore majoring in Economics at UTK. My interests include planting plants, talking, hanging out with my cat, and, of course, meditation. I first learned about meditation in high school and would meditate whenever I felt stress or anxiety, but now I find meditation can be used to prevent those feelings all together. The Mindfulness and Meditation club has granted me guidance, fulfillment, and also a fun group of people. Hopefully this year will be full of fun events and even more M&Ms. I’m looking forward to it!

I'm a Geography major with a focus in GIS. I also work at KUB making maps for the safety department. I have a fish named Yue and a car named Doug, but neither of them answer when I call them. I've been meditating off and on since I was about ten years old and it's helped me with a variety of things from body and emotional awareness to self control and self esteem. This club has helped me to keep up with my practice and find new ways to enjoy it with an amazing group of people.

Salutations! I'm a UTK senior studying Computer Science in the College of Engineering, with a concentration on Cyber security. I began meditation practices during my Junior Year and have found it to be a great aid in helping my overall concentration abilities, and also as a great stress relief at the end of particularly long (every) days. I have also done all of the bookeeping work for and personally designed the digital record keeping we utilize for our annual attendance numbers and finances through my job with the City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Aquatics Department so I am well versed in online media usage, development, and book keeping. I also quite enjoy triathletics, italian food, and B movies.
